Save Our Homes 5K Walk

Last year the Save Our Homes Walk raised $41,000 and helped over 166 Somerville residents stay in their homes. This year, the organizers have invited the Somerville Dog Owners Group to help meet their fundraising goal of $45,000 to be used to help approximately 75 individuals and families secure stable housing. The team that raises the most funds wins a prize! The Walk is great community service opportunity for the whole family: Dogs with up-to-date vaccinations and licenses, that are in good physical condition and who enjoy social events are welcome!

The Save Our Homes Walk is a 5k (3.1 mi.) walk to prevent homelessness in Somerville. The Walk is organized by the Affordable Housing Organizing Committee (AHOC), a coalition of residents and community organizations working to preserve and increase affordable housing opportunities. This is the AHOC's sixth annual walk to raise emergency funds for families at risk of homelessness or other dire circumstances and educates participants and Somerville residents about specific affordable housing developments in Somerville.

You can support this effort in several ways:

  1. Print out a pledge form and collect pledges from people you know. Bring the money and the form with you on April 26.
  2. Become a sponsor of the Walk.
  3. Organize a team of your friends, family, or another group and walk together.*
