Update 3 November 2006: Thanks to donations we received in October, we surpassed our fundraising goal! We've raised $4168. Thanks to everyone who helped us reach our goal! The donor lists have been updated to acknowledge our appreciation!

All and all the second annual Paws for Parks Fundraiser was a great success, despite the weather.

Our goal is to raise $4,000. To meet our goal, we will count donations we receive during the month of October toward the Second Annual Paws for Parks Fundraiser. Please send your donation to the Somerville Dog Owners Group, P.O. Box 63, Somerville, MA 02143. Guests who donated $100 received a beautiful hand-made tote designed and made by the owner of Chavez, a local Somerville artisan. We have half a dozen totes left.

In addition to our sponsors and the many local businesses from Somerville and beyond who provided prizes for our silent auction and dog contests, we'd like to thank our guests who participated in the silent auction, their dogs who competed in the dog contests, and the local elected officials who judged the dog contests: Senator Jarret Barrios, Representative Denise Provost, Mayor Joseph Curtatone, Alderman at Large Dennis Sullivan, Ward Six Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz and Ward Seven Alderman Robert Trane. The complete results of the dog contests are forthcoming, along with pictures from our Paws for Parks photographer, Cattie Coyle.
