Results of the Second Annual Paws for Parks Dog Contests

Sirena and Oliver won first and second prize, a gift certificate and treat back from Laundromutt in Cambridge and Gift Certificate from Olde Magoun's Saloon, respectively in the contest for Best Ears. Senator Jarrett Barrios and Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz judged the contest for Best Ears, with help from Javier and Nathanial.

First prize in the contest for Best Wag went to Happy, who won a gift certificate to the Neighborhood Restaurant. Zula won second prize, a selection of red and white wines from Portugal, donated by Jerry's Liquors.

ChavezStay.jpgThree dogs competed for Longest Stay in the challenging conditions of a crowded canopy in the rain. Theo made a noble effort but lost to Berkeley, who won a gift card from O'Naturals, and, ultimately, to Chavez, who won a thirty minute pet massage from JPE Massage.

Chavez also took the prize for Best Vocalist. For speaking on command, he won a gift certificate and treat back from Laundromutt.

Best Wagger, Happy also took the prize for Best Kisser: a matching collar and leash from Collared Canine. Mayor Joe Curtatone and Alderman Rebekah Gewirtz judged the Canine Kissing Contest. Shown here is Kirk, giving Alderman Gewirtz an eskimo kiss.

Strummer impressed Mayor Curtatone, Alderman Robert Trane Representative Denise Provost and Alderman Dennis Sullivan who gave her first place in the contest for Best Trick for her High Five. She won a gift basket from Animal Spirit in Cambridge.

MatchingFoulies.jpgBest-dressed in matching red foulies and winners of the dog-owner look-alike contest were Fonzie, a Chinese Crested, and Brenda. They won dinner at the Druid in Cambridge. Not shown are runners up Soleil, a black lab, and two-year-old Aiden.BestTrickJudges.jpg
