Happy Memorial Day
For the third year in a row, the Somerville Dog Owners Group is pleased to honor our servicemen and women of the past and present in the City's annual Memorial Day Parade. Thirteen Somerville dogs walked with us this year. The dogs were especially thankful to Ashleigh and David for pulling the Waggin' Wagon with a supply of water.
Pictured are Haley, walking Dunkin, a chocolate lab; Michèle and Marshall carrying the banner; and Strummer, a standard poodle, with Marshall. Behind the banner you can see Ashley pulling the waggin' wagon and Rebekah. Thanks to Suki's person for this photo and more. Finn's person also kindly shares pictures of Somerville dogs in the Memorial Day Parade.
Flickr member rmd1023 included three pictures of the Somerville Dog Owners Group in her set of pictures from Memorial Day, May 27, 2007.
Thanks to all the friends of Somerville dogs who walked with us this year: Adam, Bill, Elizabeth, Frank, Haley, Jessica, John, Justin, Karina, Leah, Lisa, Marshall, Michèle, Rebekah, Sarah and Scott.
We are grateful for an honorable mention on the Somerville Blog and YouTube, where the editor of the Somerville Journal, Kathleen Powers, appreciates the efforts of the Somerville Dog Owners Group to keep the parade route clean.
The video of marchers more and less successfully passing a pile of horse poop is less than ninety seconds, and som|dog gets credit for cleaning it up at the end:
